Safeguarding Children at the Blue Coat School

As part of our commitment to ensure that The Blue Coat School is a Safer School, the following information should be noted.

All staff have had training and advice about any concerns that they may have about the welfare and safety of children in their care.

If they, or you as Parents and Carers, have any concerns about a student in any Year Group at any time, please contact:
Mr Cox, Deputy Headteacher and designated Child Protection Officer

If he is absent, all Child Protection matters will be referred to:
Mr Shipgood, the School’s Deputy Child Protection Officer and Assistant Headteacher

Detailed below is important information and Procedures for Former Students who wish to visit staff of the Blue Coat School

The Blue Coat School like every other school, must comply with the latest Government legislation to ensure that visitors to school are known about and supervised.

The Blue Coat School and its staff will always welcome former students as long as you follow the following four simple and reasonable procedures:

  1. If you wish to see a member of staff at any time it is always best to call the School in advance. Teachers have timetabled lessons and cannot be disturbed. We simply don’t want to you to have a wasted journey.
  2. If the member of staff is unavailable, please leave your name and number with staff at the School Office and the member of staff you wish to contact will get back to you when convenient. You will then have a mutually agreed time at which to meet them in School Reception.
  3. If you decide to visit without a prior appointment, please be aware that you may not be able to see the member of staff you wish to see straight away. The Reception staff will do their best to contact the staff while you wait in Reception but they may be teaching or on a training course.
  4. You must never visit school and take it upon yourself to find a member of staff. ALWAYS report to the School Office first.
