Sixth Form
The Blue Coat School Sixth Form is the largest in the city, with 360 students studying in our Year 12 and Year 13.
We have great flexibility in our curriculum – there are 18 A level courses to choose from and it is rare that students aren’t able to study the combination they choose.
Internal Applicants
The Year 11 Options Meeting will take place on Thursday 15th January 2026. Students will complete an online Options Form, which must be submitted by Thursday 12th March 2026.
External Applicants
Thank you for your interest in The Liverpool Blue Coat School.
We admit 175 students into Year 12 to study GCE A Level courses. The majority of these places are taken by our current Year 11 students, with 15–20 places available for external applicants. The exact number depends on how many internal students progress to Year 12, and as a result, our Sixth Form is heavily oversubscribed.
Application Process
The application process for external applicants is currently closed. A Sixth Form Information Talk will be held on Saturday 10th January 2026 at 10:00am. An application form will be available on our website from Monday 12th January 2026, with a submission deadline of Friday 13th February 2026.
Following application review, shortlisted students will be invited to attend a short interview during March 2026.
Results Day
Applicants who have submitted an application form will be asked to bring their GCSE results into school on Results Day. If you are unable to attend in person, you must ensure that the school receives a copy of your results.
Please note: If we do not receive your results on Results Day, we will be unable to consider your application.
Successful applicants will usually be notified the day after Results Day.
Independent Appeals
Applicants are entitled to request an independent appeal panel hearing if they are dissatisfied with an admission decision made by The Blue Coat School.
Please contact admissions@bluecoatschool.org.uk, for further information and guidance about how the appeals process will work. The arrangement for appeals will be in line with the School Admission Code published by the Department for Education.
