Student Support
The Student Support Department aims to provide support for any student who is vulnerable or has specific barriers to learning. We work closely with school staff, parents and outside agencies to ensure that a graduated approach to supporting students is implemented across the whole school, with support being tailored to meet individual student’s needs.
As a school we take a holistic approach to all aspects of pastoral care, meaning that students are offered support from the staff member who is best placed to support their individual needs. Where specialist support is required, the Student Support Department may refer a student to outside agencies e.g. CAMHS, YPAS or diagnostic services, whilst continuing with in school support alongside this.
Support may be offered via small group or 1:1 sessions which focus on developing the strategies and tools students need to succeed both in school and beyond. Through our intervention and bespoke support plans, students’ barriers to learning are identified and addressed through adaptive teaching and self-help strategies.
